Every Saturday the empty square in front of the Theater in Antwerp transforms into a vibrant market. Like a Roman camp rows of canopy’s with tables underneath are installed and soon the square becomes a bustling place with people buying vegetables, flowers, nuts and so on. The canopy’s offer shelter but also create an intimacy within the larger chaotic whole. Under the canopy the trade takes place, the interaction of buying goods, of negotiating the price, of having a small talk and then moving on to the next.

Shot with a Leica m4-p and Kodak tri-x 400 film in Antwerp (B).
