ABOUT

Frederic Vandoninck (1980) lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium. During his first ten years Frederic travelled and lived in London, Paris, Douala, Abidjan and Geneva. Later on he studied civil engineering and architecture at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium).
Since 2013 Frederic is architect and co-founder at FVWW architects. FVWW architects always aims for added value for society. Every project is a specific contribution to our culture as a whole. Culture as a mechanism of how people relate to one another, how they live together, how they work together, how they meet each other and are themselves.
Parallel to his architectural activity Frederic has always been photographing and drawing his surroundings. He produces images that attempt to grasp human behavior and how we stand in this world. Standing in the world, literally as in objects within a certain context and with a certain position and relation to other things. Standing in the world, figuratively as interacting, complex, organisms where the question often arises: what the hell are we doing? The work frames a scene, as a frozen millisecond narrative, and attempts to create a striking composition, transforming the real in an everyday abstraction.
