Like the oceans the mountains are magnificent and are often protected spaces. Nevertheless, while wandering through the mountains one comes across a lot of infrastructure. This is certainly the case in la Haute Tarantaise in France which is a popular area for winter and summer sports. The fantastic landscape is unfortunately dotted with snow canons, ski lifts, poles, nets, pieces of equipment and so on. Even high up in the mountains man has found a way to dominate and to litter the environment.

This photo series embraces these elements that are scattered throughout the landscape. They are considered as sculptures, often balancing quite poetically off the mountain slope. Horizontal tubes, tilted poles, triangular constructions, large rectangular nets, inflated structures … all seem part of an giant outdoor sculpture garden. By putting them in the spotlight, instead of the pure landscape (which doesn’t seem to exist), perhaps questions could arise as to how we treat our most beautiful natural environments?
